Netiquette

Because it has been so easy for folks to "fire out" their thoughts or views in cyberspace...I want to share this link regarding the Core Rules of Netiquette. Ideally, anyone in a social network should probably be required to sign a contract agreement related to common courtesy, since we all have, at some time or another, failed miserably at one or more of the core values of civil discourse in cyberspace. :)

Core Rules of Netiquette

A sample image from Google Earth (Nathan Hale Homestead)

Here is an example of a map image that was created using Google Earth. The two added features are an icon and a polygon. The polygon delineates the corn maze at the Nathan Hale Homestead in historic Coventry, Connecticut. The polygon was made to have an orange border and a light green "fill" with 40% opacity.

A description of the homesteach can be found at this link:

The homestead is a typical farmhouse style from late 1600s and 1700s colonial New England.Coventry, Connecticut has a rich cultural history that is strongly retained in the architecture and the human spirit of the people of this region to this day

First Blog Assignment (Due Wed, May 18th, 2011)

Friends,

You have already received e-mails regarding this first assignment, so to be repetitive... :)

1) Create your class blog and share the URL hyperlink so I can link it to the class blog.

2) Post your first blog that includes a description of a topic that you would like to investigate this summer, a google earth map that corresponds to this topic, and a hyperlink that is related to the topic that you would like to investigate this summer.

You have received links, by e-mail, to video tutorials regarding www.blogspot.com (aka www.blogger.com) and Google Earth.

Best wishes,
Brian
